Freewill Shakespeare Festival
Where: Heritage Amphitheatre, Hawrelak Park

Enjoy a little culture in a relaxed outdoor setting by checking out the annual Freewill Shakespeare Festival this summer. In addition to multiple performances of Romeo and Juliet and Love’s Labour’s Lost, the festival will feature special events including date nights (tickets include appetizers, wine pairings and reserved seating for the perfect romantic date), free student nights, and puppet shows for kids.
Edmonton International Street Performers Festival
Where: City Hall & Churchill Square
When: July 8th-July 17th, 2016
Admission: Free, but bring cash to tip the performers
For ten days this summer, come watch talented street performers and artists from around the world juggle, perform acrobatics, walk across tightropes and more at the International Street Performers Festival. You can even sign up for a “Be Your Own Busker” workshop and learn cool new skills like walking on stilts. During the day this festival is very kid-friendly, but at night there are more adult-oriented burlesque and cabaret performances.
Heritage Festival
Where: Hawrelak Park
When: July 30th-August 1st
Admission: Free but you must purchase food tickets to buy food and drinks
This family-friendly festival celebrates Canada’s multiculturalism by showcasing food, performances, and crafts from more than 60 countries around the world.
Cariwest Caribbean Arts Festival
Where: Downtown Edmonton
When: August 5th-7th
Admission: free
Pretend you’re on a sultry Caribbean island right in downtown Edmonton. This cultural festival includes dancing to live island music, parades, glitzy costumes, and some of the most delicious food the Caribbean has to offer.
Edmonton Airshow
Where: Villeneuve Airport
When: August 6th and 7th
Admission: $25 (General), $20 (Military, Seniors, Children 6-12), $0 (Children under 6)
This exciting celebration of flight features live loops, tailslides and other aerobatic tricks performed by a variety of aircraft. In addition to watching the pilots perform, you can bring the kids to hands-on aviation exhibits and even enjoy a cold beer in the beer garden.[:]
